Pictures of Baby Footprints Make Creative Nursery Décor as well as Memorable Keepsakes!

Creating a picture of your baby’s footprint or footprints is a great way to add some keepsake décor to your baby nursery or home. What better way to preserve your baby’s early years than to create and display a pic of their cute little baby footprint. I came across many great ways to develop artwork using a baby footprint. Here are some of my favorites:

A Simple Frame to Display a Pic of a Baby Footprint or Footprints

Probably the easiest project involving baby footprints is to buy one the of the simple frame kits that come with everything you need to create a picture of a baby footprint. The kits are easy to use and come with a special non-toxic ink pad that is safe for your baby or in some cases, with special paper that allows you to create baby footprint pics without getting any ink on baby’s skin. You can also find frames that have enough openings to do baby handprints as well, if you wish.

Create a Special Frame with Pictures of Baby’s Footprints and Photos of Baby’s Feet

Another cute idea is to create a piece of work that not only features baby’s precious footprints but also a photo of baby’s feet too. There is nothing sweeter than a picture of an infant’s feet so incorporating that into the artwork is a great way to further preserve memories of your baby’s early years. You can create this type of artwork by purchasing a kit or by buying a collage with at least three openings in it. You will than want to get some acid free paper and a non-toxic ink pad to create the footprints with. A great idea for the paper is to use scrapbook pages. You can choose a cute baby pattern one if you want, just as long as it is light enough for the baby footprints to show up properly on. Or you can simply use some plain white paper. For the photo of your baby’s feet, you could use a white sheet or a baby blanket to create a background for the photo. Once you have your prints and photo or photos of the feet, arrange them however you want to display them in the collage. One baby footprint picture per opening and then photos of your baby or their feet in the other openings. You might want to use one of the openings to put the date the prints were taken or your baby’s birth date in. If you have a big opening in your collage, you could even display a birth announcement. Get creative! There is no limit to what can be done with a college.

Shadowboxes: Another Great Way to Preserve Pictures of Baby Footprints

How about creating a shadowbox dedicated to your little one’s feet? Shadowboxes are available at most craft stores such as Michaels and you can create your own little tribute to your baby’s feet by making a shadowbox featuring them. On the back wall of the shadowbox you could hang a copy of their baby footprints and, if you have enough room, a photo of their feet. In the bottom of the shadowbox you could place things that have been on their feet such as their hospital bracelet, first shoes or booties, or a pair of their baby socks. The possibilities for a shadowbox are limitless and you could even create two shadowboxes for your baby nursery walls…one dedicated to your baby’s footprints, and one dedicated to your baby’s handprints.

3-D Mold Kits are Great for Preserving Baby Footprints

3-D Mold Kits are definitely the neatest way to preserve your baby’s feet. They take a little more work than just creating a footprint but the results are amazing. You are left with a three-dimensional reminder of just how tiny your baby’s feet were. You can get a kit that frames the mold of your baby’s feet so that it can be hung as wall décor in baby’s room or you could get a kit that comes with a base to display the molded feet. This would allow you to display your artwork on a dresser or bookcase in the nursery.

No matter which method you choose to preserve pictures of your baby’s footprints, you are sure to come up with a keepsake memento that both you and your baby will cherish for years to come. The early years go so fast and you’ll be glad you created lasting reminders of them!
