Creating Nursery Storage Space

Baby Nursery Storage can be hard to come by, especially if you have a small room or worse yet, a small closet to work with. There are things that you can do to make the most of the space you have and create extra storage space in areas that might be overlooked.

The first place to look for storage in your baby’s room is the closet. If the closet you are working with is small, install a good closet organizer to make the most of the space. Since baby clothes are small, one pole hung a few feet from the floor will be more than enough room for clothes to hang. This will leave several extra feet above the pole to put in shelves that will come in handy for storing other items. To keep items organized, use some cute nursery storage baskets or plastic storage containers to store small items such as shoes, toys, and other nursery essentials in.

If the closet still doesn’t provide you enough storage space, look for other places around the nursery where you might create some extra storage. If you have room under the crib, you could put some storage baskets under there. This is a good place to store receiving blankets, crib sheets, and other extra bedding that you have. The changing table is also a great place for storing items. Items needed for diapering such as diapers, wipes, creams, and changing pads can be stored in the changing table. Diapers can take up a lot of space, so consider using a diaper stacker to free up the space in the changing table for other items.

Bookcases can also provide great storage for the baby nursery. If you have a limited amount of floor space, consider one tall bookcase that goes almost to the ceiling. If you have a lot of space to work with, you may want to use two or more shorter bookcases instead. This will make it easier for your baby to access toys, books, stuffed animals, and other items you may store on them when they get bigger. Whatever size bookcases you decide to go with, make sure to anchor them and all furniture pieces to the wall to prevent babies and small children from pulling them down on themselves.

You may also want to put a toy box in the nursery for additional storage space. Baby toys can accumulate quickly so having a place to store them all will help keep your baby nursery, and your house, more organized.

With some careful planning, you should be able to create plenty of baby nursery storage making it easier to keep all your baby items organized and quick to locate.
