Decorating a Garden Theme Nursery

Princess Rose 4 Pc. Bedding Set
If you want to create a garden theme nursery for your baby’s new room, there are a lot of ways you can give the room the look and feel of a tranquil garden setting without spending a fortune.

First decide what you would like to do with the walls since they will help set the tone for the whole room. You should purchase your nursery bedding before you settle on paint colors so that you can choose colors that compliment it. Usually garden themed nursery bedding comes in soft calming colors, like greens, pinks, and purples. Besides painting, a great option is a garden wall mural. You could get a pre-made wall mural with a garden scene on it or you could paint your own garden scene on it. Try attaching picket fencing (available at home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowes) to the bottom of the wall that your mural is on to give it a three dimensional look. Use stencils or decals to apply grass, ladybugs, flowers, butterflies and other garden items to your mural wall. Paint the top of the mural blue for a sky and if you are feeling really adventurous, paint some clouds in the sky. The sun and a rainbow can also be added if you want.

A nice garden themed nursery bedding set is a good place to start when planning your garden nursery. Nursery bedding with flowers or an insect theme such as ladybugs, dragonflies, or butterflies would work great for a garden room. Nursery Depot offers dozens of floral and bug themed crib bedding sets that come in a variety of price ranges. Many of the sets offer matching accessories like a diaper stacker, window valances, crib mobile, and lamps.

When choosing furniture to go in your garden theme nursery, it is possible to find pieces with a garden motif to them. A hand painted garden theme crib would work great in the room.

You could also stencil your own garden items onto the ends of your baby’s crib and the front of the dresser.

A Picket Fence Toy Box fits well in garden theme nursery. A child’s rocking chair with a flower pattern is also a cute and functional piece to have in the nursery.

The floor in the nursery can be dressed up with a flower rug. Insect themed rugs such as a lady bug or butterfly rug will also work well. A ceiling fan with flowers on it can be used to dress up the ceiling. Find some garden art work for the walls. Photos, prints, posters and wall hangings that feature garden items like flowers, ladybugs, dragonflies, and butterflies will work great. A garden themed growth chart is also a great addition to a garden theme nursery’s room décor.

You could also replace the light switch cover with a flower switch plate, use bug or flower themed knobs on the dressers, and hang a flower name plaque on the door. Little things like this help to put the finishing touches on the room.
