Decorating a Cloud Theme Nursery

Creating a cloud theme nursery is fun and easy. Clouds are wonderful for an infant’s room because they give the room a feeling of tranquility. A nursery that has clouds as its main theme is very gender neutral so it works well for baby boys or girls and will also be great for a room that will be shared by the baby and an older sibling.



When deciding how to prepare the walls in a cloud theme nursery, there are several options available. The walls could be painted a nice shade of sky blue and then clouds could be added to them either by painting them on or applying decals. This could also be done to the ceiling as well. Wallpaper or wallpaper border with a cloud theme is another alternative for the walls of a cloud theme baby room.


When choosing art work for a cloud theme baby nursery, consider choosing pieces that relate to the sky. Besides clouds, you could incorporate objects such as:

  • Airplanes
  • Birds, Butterflies, and other Insects
  • The Sun
  • Rainbows
  • Angels
  • Sheep (For a counting sheep theme!)


    Another cute idea is to paint clouds on the wall and then stencil the letters of the baby’s name on the clouds. For example, if you chose Shane for your child’s name, you could line up five clouds on one of the walls and stencil one letter per cloud.


    For baby bedding in a cloud theme baby room, look for bedding in a solid color (light blue works great) or try to find a nice crib bedding set that includes a cloud or sky theme to it. A crib mobile with clouds or other objects found in the sky (airplanes, rainbows, etc.) is great for hanging above the baby‘s crib or changing table.



    For window treatments, you could choose treatments that match the bedding you choose or if you feel like getting creative, make your own cloud window valances.     A cloud theme nursery certainly has many possibilities and it will also allow you some flexibility if you decide to redecorate the room as your child gets older. A cloud theme nursery will easily transform to an airplane, angel, or fairy tale room perfect for a toddler or young child.
