Decorating a Backyardigans Room for Your Toddler or Child

Is your toddler a fan of the Backyardigans? If Pablo, Austin, Tyrone, Tasha, and Uniqua rank among their favorite cartoon characters, they will no doubt love having a Backyardigans themed room. I find the Backyardigan characters to be a great theme to build a room around for a young child. The show really promotes using your imagination so the sky is the limit when it comes to deciding how to decorate a room with this theme.

Here are a few suggestions:

-Do a mural on the walls to make the room resemble the backyards of our Backyardigan fans. Our have the mural show scenes from some of their many adventures. If you are not artistically talented, you can search the web for a muralist in your area.

-If your child has a favorite character, you could focus the room on that one character instead of all five of the characters.

-Search the internet for Backyardigan themed posters. It is an inexpensive and easy way to decorate the walls in your child’s room. I recommend framing the poster(s) to prevent them from getting damaged. I found that my toddler loves to “undecorate” his room when he gets bored by removing things from the walls!

-If you or someone you know can sew, check stores that sell fabric. Cartoon character fabric is usually available so you might be able to find some Backyardigans fabric to make window treatments, throw pillows, and other items for your child’s room.

-Search stores and flea markets for Backyardigan items. You never know where you might come across some art work or perhaps a personalized name plaque for the room.

Here are some other places to find Backyardigan themed items that will come in handy when decorating a Backyardigans room:

  • At Walmart.com you will find a Backyardigans room in a box set for about $100 that includes a Backyardigans themed toddler bed, toy organizer, and table and chairs set. Walmart also carries these items for sale individually as well as Backyardigans bedding, a lamp, and a few other Backyardigan themed items perfect for decorating a room.

  • And don’t forget to search Ebay. I have seen everything from Backyardigans bedding and wall decals, to valances, fabric, name plaques, and wall clocks on there. It is a great place to look for bargains or hard to find items. I have also seen Backyardigan calendars for sale on Ebay. Buying one of these and taking it apart will give you 12 pieces of art work for your toddler’s room for one low price. Find some inexpensive frames at a thrift store or dollar store and you will save a fortune!
